Indian Head Massage
What is it and how does it work?
This is a seated massage either through the clothing or directly onto the skin using carrier and essential oils if required. It is an excellent option for those clients who have had no experience of massage before. It works directly on the areas where many of us hold our tension ~ the upper back, shoulders, arms, neck, head and face. Consequently it can be extremely beneficial for those who work in an office, tied to the computer.
It has its roots in the Ayurvedic system of healing, where massage plays a major part in balancing and healing the body. It is a useful merging of Eastern and Western techniques combining massage with balancing of the higher chakras (energy centres). Other origins are from the Hindu tradition among women and children to massage the scalp and hair with exotic oils blends to maintain hair condition and, for men, who usually receive a vigorous massage to the neck and head during their visit to the barbers
- traditions which are still maintained to this day.
It might be surprising to some that a seated massage can be relaxing at all, but experience shows that it is. This is probably because of the areas it targets, the importance of touch and the general nurturing environment created. Rest assured it is a great stress-busting tool.

If you have any special requirements, please let us know, for example, if you would prefer more work on the back and shoulders, but do not want oil through the hair. We will be happy to tailor the treatment to your specific needs.
Wear light/no makeup, if your hair is long, bring a "bobble" to tie it out of the way for the back and shoulder massage.
State whether you would like oil for the face and hair
